Service Description

Morning and afternoon session of forest bathing for Hodson Bay Hotel Guests on Sunday the 7th of July! What is forest bathing? It is a mindful and relaxing experience, immersion of all the senses in the atmosphere of a forest. Forest Bathing or shinrin-yoku is a preventive medicine technique that comes from Japan and has been proven to have many health benefits, like lowering cortisol levels, boosting the immune system and improving mood and mental well-being. The guided walk takes about 2 - 2,5 hours and aims to improve your overall well-being by increasing the feeling of relaxation and revitalisation. The session ends with a herbal tea ceremony to intensify the calming effect of the forest on the nervous system. Expect a slow and meditative walk and nature connection activities during the experience. Located in Co. Roscommon, the Yew Point peninsula is surrounded by Lough Ree, with two beautiful Islands, Horse and Robin Islands. This magnificent space with native tree species like ash, hazel, oak, birch, willows and pine trees, holds many beautiful corners, for rest. The forest is teeming with life and is home to badgers, red squirrels, foxes and hares. Many waterbirds live along the shoreline, and singing and prey birds, live up in the canopy of tall trees. It is a real biodiversity haven! The forest bathing trail has been specially designed, to preserve the natural beauty and the wildlife and to allow visitors to enjoy the beauty of this extraordinary space. The experience is led by a certified Forest Bathing Guide (Nádúr Center for Integrative Forest Therapy), qualified Lowland Leader (Mountaineering Ireland) and professional Botanist (Trinity College Dublin), Dr Kamila Kwasniewska.
