Service Description

Dive into the forest with all the senses to reconnect with nature! What is forest bathing? It is a mindful and relaxing experience, immersion of all the senses in the atmosphere of a forest. Forest Bathing or shinrin-yoku is a preventive medicine practice from Japan that has been proven to have many health benefits, like lowering cortisol levels, boosting the immune system and improving mood and mental well-being. The guided walk takes about 2.5 -3 hours and aims at improving your overall well-being by increasing the feeling of relaxation and revitalisation. The session ends with a herbal tea ceremony to intensify the calming effect of the forest on the nervous system. Located between Laragh and Rathdrum, the Vale of Clara Nature Reserve is known for its exceptional woodland and Avonmore River, which passes through the valley. The Reserve is home to many native tree species like oak, birch, mountains ash or holly. The forest is teeming with life. Many birds - woodpecker, jay, red kite and mammals - deer, badger, and red squirrel are just some of the wildlife in the Reserve. The experience is led by a certified Forest Bathing Guide (Nádúr Center for Integrative Forest Therapy), qualified Lowland Leader (Mountaineering Ireland) and professional Botanist (Trinity College Dublin), Dr Kamila Kwasniewska. This is a group session. Maximum number of participants is 12 people.
